My father

The sound of the wind rustling the trees

The lonely crickets singing what may be their last song

I keep in my mind that life goes on

It is so peaceful

Waiting and watching

Listening and feeling

Knowing that this isn't going to be forever

The calm nights and the warm milk before bed

I know it couldn't get better then this

Years have passed and his face is slowly sinking and creasing

He is sick

But yet i can still find happiness

I feel safe

I know he will make it and still be able to enjoy these nights

These nights with the cool breeze and the dog laying right in between

I know we both don't want this to end

I know he wants to start from the beginning again

I know our time is cut a little short

So i am making the best out of this

I am going to take his pain away

I am going to do my best

I know i am not perfect

That is what i am working at

To cause less stress and let him go if he asks

Oh

How it pains me so

I cannot bare this life with out my best friend

I cannot bare the thought of his illness

I am praying that one day... one day he will still be sitting by my side in our sacred spot where the sounds rustle through the trees

Listening to the lonely crickets sing

One last song for my father
