My Father Will Always Win

It's funny how I always think I'm ready when I'm not

Take the leap without thinking when I actually should of thought

But instead I went with the devil on my shoulder saying "Hey I'm grown"

That I already know everthing that I need to know.

Then I fall flat on my face and turn to God

Blaming him for all my failures even though it was my fault

Well this time, I'm gonna turn to Him

Because only with His help will I be able to win.

You see he gave me a working brain, two hands. and two feet,

Yet I stay on the floor so willing to accept defeat

Wave my white flag and surrender to all the lies and deceit, I've been told.

You know I was only thinking about the 3 great things you've said to me

Taking away the 100 bad things that you've done

I mean at first it was all fun

And then it ended up feeling like I was shot in the heart by your gun

Waiting for the heart attack

To land me flat on my back so I wouldn't have to feel the pain.

Always taking you back even though you did me wrong,

Your apologies sounding like a replaying song

But starting today its gonna stop and I will be stronger.

Starting today, I'm not keeping you in my life to satisfy my lonliness any longer

Because I'm through with you and your words

From the "Your the only one for me" to the "It's only sex babe" to the "Go fuck yourself" and to your greatest lie of all " I love you"

You see those 3 words made me feel like I was the lucky one

Those 3 words had me fooled thinking that your ice cold heart was actually as warm as the sun

But its okay I admit I was wrong, I mean I am only human and I make mistakes.

And even though it will be weird without our late nights on the phone

I know I wont be alone

Because the fact of the matter is I will always have someone

Whether it be God, the Holy Spirit, of the Son.

See they're by my side day and night, night and day

Giving me the strenght to say..... that I'm done

And to turn around and walk away.

And the next time I wont rush to let love in

Because that man will have to reflect some of the same qualities of that man who died for my sin

And if ever put to the choice of that man or Him

The choice won't be hard because my Father will always win.
