My Fight, My Future

I walk for so long that I no longer sweat even when the sun beats down on me without apology.

I walk for so long that the hunger no longer effects me.

My feet are so bloody and warn that I have no other feeling in my body

Simpler people would have already stopped to smell the flowers or get a drink of water or even to sleep.

I just can't make myself care.

All of those miniscule details are so irrelevant in my mind.

How can I think about such minor things when the only thing I want more than to be happy is to succeed?

No matter how long I walk, and no matter how tough this trek gets, I refuse to give up no matter how much the men on horses mock me.

Sure, walking is much more taxing on my body, but when I reach my destination they will have no choice but to accept me over the weak men who were given everything they needed to suceed.

I will not let my gender or lack of resources define what I can do.

My strength and persistance will be recognised.
