As my fingertips gave compression’s

I use to stay up

until quarter after 2

in the morning

just to make sure

you made it home

I use to hold

your hand

during the scary part of the movie

so you would know

you were never alone

I use to cover up your wounds

in butterfly shaped bandages

to hold your life into your body

even though you wanted nothing more

than to give it away

I use to pray over your still body

as my fingertips gave compression’s

to your soul

hoping you’d wake up

and that you’d stay that way

I still visit your grave site

and keep all the monsters away

praying over your still body

as my fingertips give compression’s

to someone else’s soul.
