my first

“i’ll never leave.” he whispers as he rubs her back,

while simultaneously packing a bag.

she hears him packing but lets him finish

it’s not her place to tell him to stay, she knows that.

if he wanted to stay he would’ve.

if he loved her he’d never leave -

this, she all knows.

but she cannot beg, it’s beyond her.

she struggles trying to quiet her tears

he thinks she’s dozed off, so he makes his escape -

but she was wide awake

now she lays in bed, stiff.

scared to see the bed without him in it.

scared to see a life without him in it.
