my first day as a teacher

I walked into the classroom.

I wrote my name on the board:

"Mr. Broom"

A little girl stared at my shirt.

I saw she had a black eye.

I wondered how she got hurt.

"Stephanie, how did your eye become black?"

She started to cry.

"Daddy hit me with a stack of books."

As the children exchanged looks I prepared hooks for

Daddy should not have hit Stephanie.

I knew what I had to do.

I never hit and never should you

So please don't be like

daddy Stew and hit others like you.

Instead repeat after me,

"Hitting is bad and it makes people sad."

"Hitting is bad and it makes peopel sad."
