My First Memory

A flash from the past, I found him at last. For a moment I stood there, Watching him lift with care. Up, down,1, up, down, 2, up, down, 3, The bar as long as the branch of a tree. The weights just sitting in peace, While time seemed to cease. He called her in worry, And my mother headed to me in a hurry. Her voice came to me, sweet as honey, With a matching personality that was always sunny. I ran to her in my cute little shoes, For I was only in my twos. And of course, That's my only memory from before the divorce.
