My Flood Light
For I found my passion and committed to it my life,
For I sacrificed great moments with no overwhelming strife.
The hours I pondered, dreamed, and envisioned my pride,
Made me feel more alive than any 2 A.M. party, or recital by night.
When discouraged, down, doubted, and tried,
I kept pressing on, guided by a passionate flood-light.
The fruits of my labor are now apparent to all,
Like a downfall of leaves in the brisk wind of fall.
I have left the world a better place,
And even feel like I’m just getting started and rounding first base.
For that flood-light is you and you are my hero,
Because I knew the chances you’d let me give up would be absolute zero.
