My Folly
I used to sit above the storm
a platform of Kindness and Respect my support
never seeing it for what it truely was
my awful hubris was the only cause
my only worry was that light would lose its Joy
so I lit a flame of desire to be pleased
that became an inferno of Want and Greed
Self-Indilgence and satisfation, it was all meant for me
the Flame grew and burned
it charred the relations of my family
And damaged all who wanted to help me
Why was I too blind to see?
I heard it creak and groan
the platform I called home
I rushed to douse the Flame
water to cleanse my name
Now I work to rebuild
and look to find who I may support
but I still grieve while I feel so unworthy
looking now, I do not know me
the Flame still lives, it always will
Its name is Temptation, the curse well known
it still calls me, singing of whim
and I always fear it is a fight I will not win
