My forever miracle.

Twirling her thumbs repeatedly,

as she waits for the man in the white coat.

He greets her with a distinct grin,

one without mention.

She rubs her hairless head,

and braces herself for the news.

He utters with hesitation,

“...two months.”

Her eyes widen,

as time remained still before her.

She gazed into thin air,

in silence.

Life took her back in time,

to when situations were “ideal.”

Successful, and beautiful,

were qualities that overpowered.

Life was a gift taken for granted,

despite its mystery.

Never wondering why some things were,

she ignored the miracle.

Having left work late,

she was desperate to get home.

She was going down a dark alley,

using it as a shortcut.

The heavy rain beat her to it,

so she walked through the impossible crowd.

It was promotion day,

and she was going to be evaluated.

Up two hours early,

she was ready and confident.

She hops into her brand new Mercedes,

and her car decided to fail.

She grew weak fast.

It became harder to breathe,

and lumps attacked her body.

From the inside out,

she was deteriorating.

The cancer spread.

“Ma’am… two months…”

She shakes out of her delusion,

as she grasps the news.

Her pale blue eyes suddenly glisten,

and her frowned face suddenly turns around,

as the sun rays glisten on her rose painted cheeks.

“I know my miracle.”

Tears stream down her cold face as she remembers,

the day she was going to walk home,

a woman was robbed down the alley.

The day her car broke down,

was the morning a drunk driver was on the same road.

“… He is my miracle.”

Life was never clear to her.

She woke up each day,

as though it was supposed to be there.

God waited for his angel,

protecting and guiding her.

He hoped she might realize life’s miracle.

She looks up at the doctor,

with a sign of relief.

“I now know one sure thing in life.

No more doubting.

I am God’s newly found angel,

and He is my forever miracle.”
