To my former lover..

Dear former lover,

Do you remember me? I use to be tangled in with your favorite love songs, and laced your lips with hushed I love yous. We use to have so many memories, over time they have began to fade. I was so in love with you. Your eyes held oceans of undiscovered worlds that I couldn’t wait to explore. I dreamt in the colors of your thoughts and my skin danced under your touch. They say the eyes are the windows of the soul, and yours are stain glass of blue and greys, telling a story I longed to be a part of. Your strong arms made me feel happy and safe: before you that was only a feeling I found when wrapped in childhood memories. You were more of a home than four walls and a roof could have ever been. But now I am hurt. I came to you, tears flooded my eyes, I held out the remaining pieces of my shattered heart. You knew the strength it took to offer you those left-over fragments of emotional war, they were a prize.. if only you had treated them as so. Now you can look through all my favorite books and you’ll find where my eyes have burned the paper while my mind tried to create a man who seems to only be alive on paper. Your words tasted like honey, but your heart was far from sweet. Deceiving became your way of life, and I was your next victim. One day I will not find you in my favorite songs, and hearing your name will not hurt. From now on, our love will only live on the pages hiding under my pillow. It belongs there, with the rest of the untrue fair tail dreams.
