This is my Freedom

"Spread your wings and fly, little one,

And don't forget to open your eyes as you soar through the sky."

Easy enough advice,

yet, it's scary when your wings aren't attached to your body and it feels as though you are falling instead of flying.

Penetrable pretext, I believe.

Betterstill, it doesn't have to be scary to fall.

Especially not when you've given it your all.

Sometimes it is better to sit and stall with your back against the wall.

No one else to call.

This is where the truth lies.

This is where all of the burdens turn into dragonflies.

Semmingly overbearing to what meets the eyes,

but turn out to be less harmful than originally perceived.

Life is a belief.

An investment or a thief.

Perspective is the key.

You must trust it even if you can't see.

Because it is easy to fly when your head is already in the sky.

It is easy to feel free when you already know who you are meant to be.

It is easy to feel as though you don't need when you already have.

And it is easy to be when you feel as though you already are.

But have you ever tried being blind?

Being completely unaware of what was there?

Being utterly lost in a world that didn't seem to care?

Perhaps I've lost you there...

Yet, I've found myself in a place where I wasn't afraid.

Not of being lost,

nor of falling,

neither of sitting back and stalling.

Because poetry has taught me that I can be free.

I dont' have to agree with the rest of  society.

I can challenge the validity of certain  entities

and create my own enquiry.

This is a belief.

An understanding of release.

Funny how they never understood that my wings were my words, trapped inside a pencil,

that was trapped inside a pen,

that could no longer hold these truths within.

And the sky was not my canvas, but the blank space, the blank sheet of paper, and the blank.

I know freedom, I understand free fall.

Poetry encompases them all.
