My "Friend" College
I told myself if I was to ever write a poem it would be about you
College
Oh , The unbearable fascination I have for you .
The days on end when I stare at you hoping and praying for your acceptance.
“I got in”
Its not like you owe me anything anyway .
Our friendship is based on how I behaved in previous relationships…
Intuitions , private schools , public schools , extracurricular activities , attendance …..
And I hate it .
Why do I have to always do things for you?
Why can’t you just be grateful and accept that its 2 a.m and I can’t seem to get you out of my head
“I still need 11 thousand”
I have to finish my journalism paper by six , send off my transcripts by nine , and fill out scholarships to cover the cost of you just being my friend!!!!
“I have to resubmit to Turnitin again?”
I wanted to call Sallie Mae , but I heard she was no better friend.
You have my whole future in your hand!!!!
“You really just don’t understand….”
I’m writing my first poem just so I can have money to spend time with you
You provide counselors but I want to confide in you
Tell you thank you for changing my life and making me experience something new
And all you gave me was a congratulations letter and when money for registration was due.
“Umm, thank you”
