My friend Licorice

A cold wet nose Nudging my leg A warm, pink, tongue Giving my hand a bath Notorious for stealing off the table We never knew what she would get into Half an uncooked/unpeeled butternut squash A freshly baked loaf of bread A random corn cob with no corn I think of all these memories as i mourn The loss of my beloved friend Licorice A black Cocker Spaniel, who Passed away over a year ago. It still feels like yesterday though I keep expecting her to come running in Tail wagging and jumping on me My only small comfort is I know she's at peace She's in heaven with Memere-my grandmother Soon enough my whole family, including Licorice Will be in heaven, once again together.
