My Friend, The Song Bird

They said you were poison
But I didn't want to believe them
I saw the good in you
That they couldn't.

Your wings might've been
Damaged before
I thought they were healed

But as it turns out,
They were right.

Now, you sing your song
In a cage.
You will reach out to me
But I won't reach back.

I wanted them to
Be wrong

The apologies won't work,
Those sad eyes won't phase me.
I gave you one chance
And one chance only

Your wings were still broken
You won't make me fall with you

And now my song bird
I fly without you.
