To My Future Daughter
Brooklyn Mary,
I can only imagine
What it would be like on the day
I hold your little body
In my loving arms.
I can only imagine
How you will be exactly one half of me and one half of your father
How you will grow up in such different world than I did
How you will learn things like I did when I was younger.
I can only imagine
The things you will do that will make me laugh and cry
The things you will do that will make you proud of yourself
The things you will do that will make you happy.
I can only imagine
The future memories we will create with each other
The future fights that always happen between a mother and her daughter
The future happiness that you will bring in my life just by simply existing.
I can only imagine
The measures I will go through just for you
Like the measures my mother went for me
And hopefully the future measures you will do for your daughter.
I can only imagine
The amount of times I will tell you “I love you”
The amount of times I will lift you up when you’re down
The amount of times I will be protective over your heart.
Just know that the things I will do
Will only be for you because I love you
