My Generation

I'm here today not to lecture or brag
But to tell a story of my generation
Now prepare yourself because for the most part
This story is honestly quite sad

It's a story of great minds with endless possibilities
Bound for success if they so choose to be
But there lies the problem and the sad part of this story
All those great minds want success for free
They believe that it's a guarantee
Something they deserve just for having a diploma or GED
Times are tough but that's no excuse
Like I said before they're bound for success
If they so choose
With a little bit of will of some serious drive
There's absolutely no reason we all can't thrive

To quote a wise man who's believed to be dead
Ambition over adversity
Atleast that's what Tupac said
Maybe he was on to something
I think he was right
Because what's worth the prize
Is always worth the fight

We have a choice to sit and wait for that supposed guarantee
Or use the tools given to us and work to succeed

They'll make their choice and I'll make mine
hard work and some serious drive that's my choice I choose to thrive,
As for the others
All those other great minds
Their choice will be known in due time
Cross your fingers and hope for the best
Hope they choose the path to success
