My Generation

Looking at my generation
Puts a burden on my heart
All the lost souls, the separation
From the one who loved us from the start

All the cuts and bruises I see
On the inside and out
Show a people full of sorrow
Desperation and doubt

They hang on so slightly
To all their worldly crowns
Instead of giving them up to the one who saves
And putting them on the ground

They take one look at their lives and say
“That’s it, I’m through”
Rather than realizing when Jesus died
He said this blood is for you

If you look at the cross
His arms were nailed open
So you can put your bags on them
But you don’t want to surrender
And put your trust in him

Do you want to spend eternity in hell
Where there is no way out
If not then give your life to Christ
And you can go on without doubt
