In My Generation

In my generation,

Wrong equals normal.

Yet women must stay calm and formal

with the things that go on.

You see children snatched from families,

you see them singing a sad song.

In my generation,

there are so many lies and devastation.

But since I am God's creation,

I won't let that hold me back.

I promised my fallen brother

that I will attack

the basic needs that we lack.

In my generation,

I will show the power I behold.

I will show my ability,

then my heart may not seem so cold.

My melanin, my power,

You will see in this hour,

That this is only the beginning.

Because I am a beautiful blooming flower.
