To My Grandfather

You might not be a hero to the world,

But you are a hero to me.

You taught me respect.

You taught me courtesy.

You taught me compassion.

You gave me affection.

I would do anything,

To be able to give you one last hug.

I would fly across the world,

To hear one last story.

Although you’re not here with me now,

You’re lessons will carry me through the rest of my life.

For you, I am brave.

For you, I am kind.

For you, I work hard.

For you, I will not quit.

You inspired me to be the best version of myself,

I could possibly be.

I am forever thankful to be influenced,

By a hero like you.
