For My Grandpa

I have learned something throughout my years,

And I have not been around for long

I have not yet seen everything there is to see

Within only a few short years I have, in fact realized something,

The world is a powerful force

It has the power to bring the strongest person to their knees

And make the weakest person stand

Sometimes I feel bitter at the world

Sometimes it does things that are painful

It is times like this I question its methods

I have noticed that as the world loves to test our limits

But it also lives to see us crush them

Prove both it and us wrong

The world plays a cruel game,

Pushing you to what you think is your end,

And then showing you how much farther you can go

The world gives us unity

A family that helps us battle our biggest wars

The world has tested us

And you the most

However the world has not yet shown you your limit

The world presents you a challenge

And gives you the power to recover

It only needs you to dominate it

The world takes the strongest person

And shows them how powerful they are

I know now times seem hard

And it seems that the world is against you

But the world is teaching you a lesson

That you are stronger than you may believe

The world has given you your family

Together

We are powerful

And we will show the world

No time can separate us

No 1237 miles,

No 18 hours can stop us

We would travel for years

Just to combat the world

Together

The world has tested you

Thrown you down

Now it is time

For you to show the world You can get back up

And you will get back up

Show the world

You are stronger than you may appear

The world has not won yet

And history repeats itself

Doesn't it?

We have won before

And we will win again

Together

The world is like the winter

A cold and brutal force

One thing always stands through in the winter,

After the dark and cold storms,

The brightest roses

And bluest skies always follow

And now the winter is at its coldest

And its power seems the most daunting,

But these flowers will be the most beautiful of all

You have not yet seen the bluest sky

But aren't we all visionaries?

I have not been around for very long

I have not yet seen the world

Although I have learned some things in my time,

The world is a powerful force

But nothing is more powerful

Than the force of a man and his family

I wrote this for my grandfather who was fighting an illness that unfortunately took his life. He was and will forever be the rock of our family
