My Hair
You did not love me and I surely hated you.
You were not cooperative and we just did not vibe.
Why was I cursed with you?
You’re just a thorn in my side.
A constant reminder that I am not good enough.
With your tight fist, you fought me every step of the way.
A constant tug of war.
You pushed and I pulled.
Why couldn’t you be like the rest?
If you were, then I would be blessed.
Why me? Why you? Why us?
You’re abrasive, unruly and unkind.
There were days I didn’t want to claim you as mine.
Words of judgment constantly clouded my mind.
Not realizing you were one of kind.
One of kind that just needed love.
Love that I did not know how to give.
Love that you needed to just live.
You live beyond any expectations I had for you.
Your strength and loyalty remained true.
You never gave up on me.
I just had to open my eyes and see.
To see the true beauty you bestow.
You have a story that needed to be told.
The more I understood your story, I began to understand me.
You completed me.
You and I are two of a kind.
From our complexity to our unpredictability.
From our adaptability to our strength.
We developed an unbreakable bond.
A bond that is deeply rooted.
Before we knew it , our relationship and confidence grew.
We are a prefect pair of Queens, who knew?
In actuality you never let me down.
I am proud to wear you as my crown.
