My Heart

I questioned if you were reality,
My perfect match staring back at me.
You pulled my world from dark to light,
And encompassed me in heartfelt delight.

I have done nothing to deserve your love,
Your heart, your embrace, or anything thereof.
I hope to never leave the warmth of your heart,
In spite of all the lonely days we spend apart.

If only I could hold you close tonight, my dear,
I would trade the world to have you here.
My heart aches for its other half,
I long for your smile, your warmth, your laugh.

I wish you were in my arms, but my heart will do,
Tonight I will dream of no one but you.
I cherish the few minutes we have together,
But in my heart, you'll remain forever.
