My Heart

My heart The very best part of me Holding the love That has always been a part of me Lying at the heart of me No matter how tough life got I knew i could stay strong As long as i my heart to keep me moving on My heart That sped at the sight of you My love That with each moment in your presence grew I had never knew that kind of love Before you My heart The one i trusted you with My love That I gave so selflessly Because you said that together We held endless possibilities My heart That which you cut like a knife My love That you made a burden that night As you shattered my soul And decimated the one thing that kept me whole My heart And so it lay broken, ripped open With some wounds that will never heal Somehow the idea of true love Became less real Less solid than before After our, I mean my, ordeal It no longer provided me strength To think about you, to care, to love And so I no longer dared to love for you showed me just how vulnerable it could make me Revealing just how weak I could become And though for a while I thought my heart had found a home You forced me to open my eyes When you left me alone So, I locked it away My heart And I accepted that we will always be apart Though it still bleeds and aches inside My heart And I'm still hoping one day my tears will dry For good My heart holds my love, but also my pain So, my soul had to hide my heart in a vault So, I lost the best part of me And its all your fault
