My Heart Cries

My Heart Cries poem by D'Vante Jerrell Chapman
Deep conversation with my inner voice.
Do I have a choice?

Hopeless encounters
Build upon countless endeavors
Of anxious midnight blues

My little alabaster box sings memories of her
Thoughts have been deep
What God has joined together let no man put asunder
Silk and Satin quiet now go to sleep

Repeat cycles
Can't run away
Try to count sheep but even they too can speak

What are they yelling?
Can't make it out
Warnings of storms and lightning
But my spirit lies a drought

I see you in the distance
But up close, you're non-existent

Write a letter to myself
Maybe my future self will read it
Put it on the nearest shelf
Hold it intimately in his hand like a baseball in a batter's mitt

Meticulous words unspoken
Passionately await to embrace you, but you disappear
Even my heart cries

Deep conversation with my inner voice.
No, I don't have a choice.
