My heart leaps up when

My heart leaps up when I behold,

A big cake on the kitchen table

My friends come out of their hiding places

and make my face lighten like the sun

They form a circle around the table

and shout “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

I put a huge smile on my face

and sing the traditional song

you sing once a year.

The candles are blown

like trees swaying in the breeze

and I start sinking my teeth into the moist cake

like an alligator sinks its teeth into its prey.

Thank you all for doing this for me,

This event is unforgettable, thank you for celebrating this event

with such love.
