My heart in your hands

A letter to My person
I chose you to be my person
Without even thinking I knew you were the one
I tried to stop it
Tried to protect my heart from what I knew eventually would happened
But out of the blue
What I failed to see
Was you didn't choose me
I was just the friend to keep your ego warm
but we can never be friends
Not again
Not after the way you watched her
like she was everything you had been waiting for
When in reality you were barely an option to play
I was willing to fight for you
But you wanted me to compete for your love
It was a vicious cycle of unrequited love and filing space
After everything
I don't regret loving you
Even if loving you tore my heart into so many pieces
I regret letting you walk away with pieces of my heart in your hands
But this is just a story about a girl that moves on with pieces of her heart
Pretending she's still carrying the whole thing

forever
with love
