My hero

Dear Papaw,

I wish you were still here with me,

To route and cheer me on.

Standing in my corner

as my high school days are nearly gone.

I could use your words of wisdom

through your funny sense of humor.

Instead of being here with me,

you were taken by that massive tumor.

I wonder what you think of me,

as you look down on me from Heaven.

Do you know that much of who I am

comes from my hero's love and lessons?

I hope you are proud

of what you see down here below

I've become quite the beast at football,

although I've never learned to throw.

I've imagined you in the stands

Yelling like all the rest.

Saying "that's my boy! Go get em"

As we won each weekly contest.

I have an amazing girlfriend.

She's stayed with me all the way through.

I think you'd really love her,

When I'm down she is always my little go to.

Papaw, I'll soon be taking the next huge step in my life.

Please walk beside and guide each decision I make

I want to make you proud and steer clear of any mistakes.

You'll always by my hero. I love and sure do miss you,

And I believe that you'll be beside me just to help me through.

See you soon!

Joeman
