My Home Was Not A Home

Our home was broken

Even the people inside

We didn't know who to turn to

We didn't know how to fly

No one could relax or breathe

It was a space without affection

We only knew how to fight

We only knew what to scream

The walls could have been filled with photos

Instead they were filled with holes from anger

We didn't know how to hug

We didn't know about love

My home was not a home

It was a place of anxiety and stress

We knew we were in pain

We knew nothing could change
