My Hurricane Love

My Natural Disaster,

Your body was a hurricane, my tears like a storm

I could never compare to the violence trapped in your words

You harbored angst in your windy mind, and left drops of rain as you passed by

When you touched the ocean, it was as if you had found where you belonged

Most people would be content, but this was a turning point -

one where violence took over your life

I knew all too well that our days were numbered

Though we were alike, there was far too much difference in how we were controlled

My hurricane love, you reached land with a vengeance unknown,

as I tried to combat you with thunder and throwing lightning bolts

My efforts were of no use - you would never back down

There was something inside you that could no longer sleep sound

you brought mass destruction in your wake,

forcing me to accept that this was our fate

I'll fade away, as storm clouds do

But I will never forget the person I once knew

With love,

Your Stormy Day
