My identity

Starting on a one lane road

To water glistening in the sun

Simple things

Remain unnoticed

Many, from far and wide

Gather on this peaceful side

Isolated in their own peace

I hear small things

Birds chirping

Boats passing

Bass splashing

All, in the beautiful lake

Open Fields and Gravel Roads

Nothing can please me more

Sun on the water

Wind in the trees

I wonder, how none of these

Are noticed by any of the others

In the city I often see

Many things that don’t compare

From large buildings

To public parks

Nothing can please me

More than the middle of nowhere

It may just be me

And who I am

To appreciate the things that have shaped me

The simple things

That try their best

Are almost never

Given full respect
