My Identity

As I sat there all alone, so young of age, who would care for me

I'm just a girl, a roaming soul walking on earth.

I've had my share of pains, loved one who have been hurt.

My heart has been battered, felt like it could never be fixed.

Then that is what happened, I turned hard and cold.

I though no one could touch me.

Hate, fear, and loneliness consumed my being; I did not have any forgiveness in me.

I didn't care what others thought of me.

I thought others did not know how I felt.

I though no one could help me.

'Cause the last thing, I needed, was someone telling me how to fell and act, no need for more weight on my shoulders.

I was like this for a while, I felt like I only had myself.

I know I'm not the only one, but I've been through enough battles to have my past build up as high as Mt. Everest.

Forever I know I will carry those memories.

Time has passed and I've grown.

I've become mentally stronger.

No need for physical strength if there is nothing up there.

I will prove everyone wrong, everyone who thought I'd fail and crumble.

One day I'll be someone, attend a prestigious university, and embark on my life.

I have discovered my true identity as a strong and courageous woman.

I am not a number or roaming aimlessly, in fact, I am a proud individual ready to pass anything that goes in front of my way.

And I'll take my past and not allow them to take me back to that dark place, rather use them to my advantage and prove who is the beholder of my future.
