My Inspiration is my Process
It starts out as a feeling
Imperceptible at first
This first stage is quite revealing
While the feeling becomes nursed
And then formed into emotion
Which is messy, and a pain
I observe all the commotion
That is happening in my brain
The next of all these phases
That I formulate inside
I write simple words and phrases
Disconjuncted and untried
And then into simple meter
My small idea becomes a thought
It has neither form nor feature
But I needn’t be distraught
Cause now’s time for decoration
Using phrasing, words, and rhyme,
Go from simple illustration
To a moment trapped in time
Once I have my piece of writing
I can let my feeling go
There’s one more step, it’s exciting
I will type it out real slow
Paper goes in my typewriter
And I press each key with care
While my heart becomes much brighter
With each line that I can share
My poem is now a concrete
Form of the feeling that was small
And now I take the marred sheet
Then I tape it to my wall
My inspiration is from moments
That I experience each day
Things that bring my soul enjoyment
Pain I wish would go away
People ask me how I relieve
Or in my shell withdrawal
My heart may not be on my sleeve
But it sure is on my wall.
