my invisible best friend

my best friend has a name

i am always afraid to speak it

for fear that others will find me weird or fake

my best friend hides in the dark corners calling to me to join

my best friend keeps me from socialising with others

i am only allowed to be friends with them

i try to cry and scream out but my best friend only snakes their arms around me and

silences my screams with their ghostly hands

my best friend is invisible

and my best friends name is depression

I am no longer afraid to say my best friends name

DEPRESSION! DEPRESSION! DEPRESSION!

I have depression and I make sure it is known

I now have other best friends like Self Worth, Hope, and Love

they take me to the bright gardens in my brain instead of the dark corners

here I can minlge in my life with my friends and my therapist

here in the garden I am no longer afraid of depression for he can't get me here

here I am safe and can be myself without fear of how others will view me if they knew

of my invisible friend

Depression
