My Journey
Part 1: Limbo
I looked out at the world with alert but timid eyes
As a kid
People’s perceptions of me molded into my own
My hesitant actions held me back like a snagged wire
Consumed with a whirlpool of doubts and anxieties,
My voice softened, became almost meaningless to my ears
My form was losing color
It was like my head was stuffed,
Like watching the world pass by through a window
The world is so close, but far away, so that my fingers cannot grasp.
Part 2: The Awakening
At 15, I begin to change.
Ears shifted toward me
To hear my anxiety and pleas for advice
My frown gradually faded into a smile, setting my heart aflame.
Fueled by my counselors
Finally, I can grasp the light.
A new face emerged: Bravery and Strength.
A face that lay dormant.
Now, I look at the world more optimistically
My world brightened
I stay true to myself and
I remember that I am in control of my destiny.
