My Kindness Is Stronger Than It Looks.
I have written paragraphs
about people
just so they know
they matter.
not a short message
but a paragraph of meaning
I hope they remember.
No one truly sees my kindness.
Friends at school say
"yeah you're kind."
But sarcastically,
like It doesn't matter.
They don't know
how many times
I've rewritten words
so someone feels okay again.
how many paragraphs
have held people together
when they were falling apart.
Older, younger, adult or child.
They don't see the
countless minutes I spend,
shaping sentences
and words so
they feel convincing.
I don't want anything back,
nothing.
I don't need a paragraph in return
or a gift.
Because kindness is who I am.
My close friend always tells me
"Don't let people take
advantage of your kindness"
But Im not doing this
to be taken advantage of,
I am just someone
who wants everyone to feel
worthy.
Because I know what its like
feeling worthless.
But sometimes, just sometimes,
I wonder what it feels like
to wake up to words upon words
that talk about
how amazing you are
and how many people need you.
