My Kingdom on the Waves

In crashing and in whisper The tides do come How I wish the noise to stop The snickering of birds The beating of a drum Is silence so intangible, Is solitude so far? So many in the crowd, And yet so few; Send me to a distant star Allow me to renew. If none my words shall heed, Away with me, I'm off to sea, My Kingdom on the Waves. Leave me here Alone I'll be For as long as sadness saves. In my kingdom, No wind is harsh, no rain is cold The breeze breathes through the palms Morning is young, though sky is old And the spirits delight in song. My kingdom where the sun is soft And no darkness dwells in caves Where eaves are red and towers oak My Kingdom on the Waves. Give me this at least, That no one here shall touch me Whose brow is furrowed Whose fists are clenched Whose words hiss out behind me. My kingdom is, as Kingdom was, And always is to be My kingdom is, and rightly so, Given unto me. Exclusively, Relentlessly, Given unto me. My kingdom bears no loyalty To caravans and knaves My kingdom where there is no hurt, No heavy hearts, no slaves Where all is bright and all is peace And all is old, yet does not age. The heart of me; The Life of me; My Kingdom on the Waves.
