My Land

Like a house beautiful painted

But empty in the inside

Or a room as immaculate

As freshly cleaned dishes

It seems so clear at first

The exterior seems so attractive

Until you get closer and see

It’s actually shining from the inside out

The more lovely the interior

The more genuine it is

Yet it is hidden under a grave

It is losing its beauty

And we don’t even know it

It has learned to live without love

The more you ask

The less I know

Everything fades away

And nothing is remembered

My children may never know where I come from

Who will save it from the Grim Reaper?

It has become desolation

The city of my childhood

Corruption has taken away what I’ve come to love

War has made me orphan
