My Librarian

She taught me many thinks My Librarian

Love of words and books included

But most of all she taught me love of all the little humans

She showed me smiles, laughs, and tears and how to bring out the best

She showed me an opportunity, to turn work into an epiphany

For some child who never knew more

But most of all she taught me love

She always pointed out the best in me or the rest all around her

She showed me the worth of one small girl

And that one small girl can go on to change the world

With her words or a pen, she is a force not likely to be tamed

But most of all she taught me to write

We touch those around us when we put our words to paper

Anger, fear, wonder, excitement sprawled out on a page make up the fabric of me

My biography, My legacy, My impact

But most of all she showed me life

She showed me the beautiful wrinkles which can kiss a face with memories

Of a life, long lived with too many smiles

The glass is half empty, the glass was half full,

Well hers was overflowing.

With colors and words and happiness I hopefully too would realize...

But then one day the colors stopped

New lines appeared on her face, ones of worry and constant thought

They told me she had a negative prognosis, whatever that did mean

Hours were spent in silence, with little in between

She taught me how to grieve, and how to grieve with grace

She taught me to hope, to stop the negativity we face

She taught me to pray and to bargain and to plead

And to never concede to the sickness within

She taught me many things My Librarian

But most of all she taught me how to Overcome

She came in one day with a little missing of herself but not her heart

From that day forward the colors slowly came back

And the first one was pink

They told me she may never be better

But I knew better

Because most of all My Librarian taught me HOPE
