My Life

Asa young boy, I decided what I wanted to be. It came to me as I watched TV. I saw heros in a war movie. Some of which gave their lives for me and you. That is why i am now defending my country. At age 18 , my dream came true. My chance to sign-up for the army was long over due. I signed te paperwork now the easy part was through. It was time to go to boot camp to prepare to be part of the red, white and blue. 4 months later, Boot camp is a thing of the past. I am a full-fledged soldier at last. Ive beem deployed to Iraq to be part of the 100,000 man cast. Sleep is non-existant due to blast after blast. Day after day i manage the best i cant. It helps to share your fears with others and man to man, I keep my head low because dying is not part of my plan. I am sixteen months into my tour. Going home is only two months away or a little more. Keeping my moral up is really a chore. Especially after seeing all of the blood and gore. My time is up and its time to go back to my home land.I can finally leave this middle east sand. My unit returns home to the much fanfare amd a marching band. Being able to hug and kiss my wife and kids has long been on my mind. I also think of the many friends ive left behind. After all we have been through better friends will be hard to find. As I reflect on my dreams as a bopy. Myaccomplishments as a soldier brought my family and I great joy. Top get me to leave my wife and kids again would take a diabolical ploy.I have been in war and I have done my part. I got shot and earned the purple heart. Now it time for my civilian life to start.
