My Life

The instructor said

Go home and write

A page tonight.

And let that page come out of you—

Then, it will be true

Here I am, sixteen years of life following behind me

Born and raised in Moreno Valley

From Sugar Hill, to Vista Heights, and now at Valley View

My family supporting me through everything I do

With 2 brothers and 3 sisters, me being the youngest of them all

It’s easy to ignore responsibility, however, my mom is protecting us from above

Although shy at first, I become extremely outgoing

To the point where my friends think I’m annoying

I roll the windows up then I sing and burp

And scream when they touch my neck, yet it doesn’t hurt

They ask what I like to do

I say I’m a dancer, I dance, and did I mention dancing?

I like to sleep and joke and eat fettucini Alfredo

I do hate seafood and soda, though

How are you different? Is what some like to say

And I reply back “I can put my leg behind my head and bend it the other way”

I can touch my head to the floor

While my feet remain intact

I can play peek a boo with my feet

Because of the flexibility in my back

Now some may say it’s weird

But to me it’s only normal.

we all breathe and share the same air

And we all have eyes and noses and some kind of hair

We may be different

 but we’re all human beings

and Deep down inside

we all share some of the same things
