My Life
My Life
Today a new day
I open my eyes
To see new things of joy, love, and laughter
It makes me feel alive
Making my first move as I slip out of bed
I stretch out my concerns and prepare for the best
While my mother shouts out goodbye
I acknowledge the hard work that she provides
As I learn
Work is not an option but a way of life
I respond with a good bye and I continue to start my day
Putting on my right shoe first to start the right way
I’m ready for work, well dressed for now
With my keys in my hand then off heading into town
But before I go how could I forget
I kiss my sisters forehead and I whisper “I love you always”
as she continues to rest
These girls are the reason that keep me alive
For I would do anything to protect them of any day of any night
