Is My Life Wrong

Is our love wrong

Because its so thick and strong

And we share the same sex

Is our Skin wrong

Because it mimics the color of the earth

Before the plants grow to cover with colors

Is our hair wrong

Because it grow to lengths we cant control

And is much more course

Is our faith wrong

Because we do not believe the white mans lie

And went back to our home religion

Is my love wrong

Simply because you do not approve

Is my skin wrong

Because it does not look like yours

Is my hair wrong

Because it locks in ropes and swings like vines

Is my faith wrong

Because you want me to live like you

Tyheri Jones

I am a Afro-Caribbean woman and I am in search of a school that is accepting of my religion and heritage. I am on a path to pursue a degree in psychology so that I can council adolescents who face the same discrimination as I. Being of Nigerian decent, half African American and Jamaican, I have struggled with being accepted not only for my accent but for my hair, skin tone and religion.
