My Light

There are some days

when life just gets me down

but when I see I'm in this haze

There's someone who I've found

He can't speak our language

and has tiny paws with pointed claws

whenever I'm in anguish

His whiskers hide my flaws

His perfect pink nose

match his puffy paw pads

he makes my face glow

In a way it never had

These cloudy, sad moments

were like a heavy tumor

my heart is no longer broken

Because of my cat, Boomer
