"My Little Blankie"
The one thing I cannot live without is my little blankie.
It once kept me warm and covered my bed;
It was security that enveloped me from my feet to my head.
It was with me before I knew its name.
Whenever I went to bed, I held it close.
It softly pressed against my face; I loved its touch the most.
Throughout the years, it has been there.
It’s been with me through thick and thin.
No matter what I will always remember its touch against my skin.
My little blankie no longer covers me, for it is worn and tattered.
My family joke and call it a rag;
But to me it should be honored like the American flag.
I cannot imagine what I’ll do without my little blankie.
It’s now just scraps of cloth to others who look on.
But to me it’s the one thing that has been there from day one.
