My Love To You

I love the way you kiss my hands. Gently, but powerful.

They’re different from normal kisses because it’s gratitude filled with them not just love.

I feel the appreciation coming from you and it makes me feel loved and someone of importance.

Every time you kiss my hands my whole body tingles and sends a message to my brain telling me that you think I’m important and it’s the greatest reminder anyone could ever give.

Your hands are the physical image of safety, security, home.

Every time they collide with my skin my nerves send shots of Cupid’s arrows through my body up to my brain,

And it makes me wanna grab your face and kiss the words I could probably never say out loud to your lips,

So you know what I was thinking without me even making a sound.

Your lips are the padlock to the love that my heart has committed to you.

When our lips collide it unlocks the love and fills your soul with it,

And though my eyes are closed,

I could see how beautiful you were through your lips.

Your voice is the one song that I wouldn’t mind if it got stuck on repeat.

I want you to tell me stories about your day and something funny that happened. Those moments where you’re laughing too hard to breathe and can’t even get around to telling the story.

Your laugh not only notifies me of your happiness,

But sends chills down my spine slowly

Like a ball dropping from the sky in slow motion.

If I could have your voice as the last thing I hear before I die,

I would put it on full blast and float into oblivion.

These aren’t just the cute things that you wanted to hear leave my lips.

These are the words and feelings fleeing from a heart overflowing with passion and love for someone,

That someone being you.

I love everything about you.

Whether it be watching you look out the window as we drive along an open road,

Or you losing your mind in excitement when your favorite song comes on.

There are some things that I haven’t even noticed before.

Like how when you smile you have a little crease in your cheek.

Or how your laugh seems to just get louder and louder as life goes on.

I see the way you’re improving.

I couldn’t be more proud of you.

This is drifting away from a formal descriptive, lovable poem that makes you say “Damn that analogy wasn’t expected.”

Unfortunately I’m not the kind of love poet who can use similes as easy as...

See.

I’m more of the love poet where,

Though it can be broad,

You’ll feel it just as much.

My love for you will never grow old like ice when it melts.

My love for you will never grow weak like limbs on a tree.

My love for you will grow stronger like a...

Again I’m not the greatest love poet when it comes to using similes.

But you understand.

This isn’t just something cute you want to hear leave my lips.

This is my love to you.

And forever it will last.
