My melted ice cream
I held my ice cream in my hand, as it began to melt away
I tried everything to keep it for me
I licked it, and ate it trying to stop the melting but nothing I did could work
I tried leaving it alone but it still melted onto itself, folding over, losing all structure and meaning
No matter how hard I tried the ice cream couldn’t stop melting, it wouldn’t stop, maybe it was my fault for keeping it in the sun, or the fault of who made it, or the ice cream itself
But soon the ice cream was gone, and all that remained was a puddle
And so I cried and cried about the ice cream, I tried everything I could to save it
Why couldn’t I have tried harder, worked faster, knew what to do
But in the end this was never about an ice cream cone, was it
