My Memory

My Memory.
Without a memory,
I am nothing.
I would be unable to retain information,
and thus be unable to answer questions.
I would not be able to analyze
or understand.
I would not be able to draw connections
or think for myself.
Without a memory,
I would not be able to recall past joys
or previous sorrows.
I would not be able to remember the special people in my life
or how to love them.
Memories are the only things that remain from life:
all the scars,
all the healing.
Often,
I make memories.
But, more often,
Memories make me.
