My Mentor

He taught us about the reality of our lives

As well as our sharps and flats

He taught more than just music in our class.

He taught us about happiness and sadness

About caring for others

About kindness to all

He showed us how to be okay with who we are

How to accept others,

And help those in need

He told us about the value of working hard

And about pushing through adversity

While trying your best to succeed

He taught us more than any textbook can

About being the best person you can be

And being the best musician you can be.
