My Mind

If I had to make do with just one thing,

I know what I would need,

I'd choose to have one book with me,

That's all I'd need, indeed.

The book would be a special one,

with stories that never grew old,

and I'd use it as my shield,

through hot times, and through cold.

It'd be my sword in battle,

And a stronghold in times of peace,

and if I was all alone there,

my reading would never cease!

The book would strengthen my heart and soul,

and I'd find salvation there...

So, even on a deserted Island,

My Lord God goes anywhere!

His word would keep me alive each day,

and one day I'd soon find,

though I may never escape from my island,

My Bible will save my mind!
